Guest at the GOW! Proeftuin webinar

Colleague Ernest Dik was a guest speaker at the GOW! Proeftuin webinar on June 8th. In this article, we share the key findings from the webinar on digital participation and integrated area development. During the webinar, we presented a pitch on how our innovative digital tools and strategies can be the key to creating acceptance and support in the field of area development.

The importance of early and intensive participation:

Ernest emphasized the crucial importance of involving target groups at an early stage of area development projects. Since the Environmental Act increasingly enforces this, it is essential to embrace participation and actively collaborate with all stakeholders. Reducing apprehension and creating a culture of cooperation form the foundation for success in this regard.

Innovative digital communication tools:

One of the highlights of the webinar was the introduction of innovative digital communication tools that enhance the engagement of citizens and stakeholders. The use of visual communication, such as interactive models and videos, plays a crucial role in conveying complex information in an accessible and engaging way. An example of this is the online visitor center on the island in Sneek, developed in collaboration with WDW and Van Wijnen.

Integrations and the use of Artificial Intelligence:

We also integrate third-party systems, such as the Bouwapp, which clearly indicates when people may experience disruptions due to construction work. Moreover, everyone has nowadays heard about the rise of Artificial Intelligence. With the help of AI, we can create personalized avatars for the Online Visitor Center that are present in the space. Additionally, we use text-to-speech technology to, for example, welcome visitors and provide virtual tours. This development enhances stakeholder engagement.

Partners in participation

With this major integrated challenge, we recognize: We can’t do this alone. That’s why we already collaborate as co-initiators with partners in participation. These are all providers of professional tools, each contributing their own area of expertise in participation.
