Real-Time Spatial Co-Creation: Introducing EnergyPlanner Collaborate

Written by Ernest Dik | August 24, 2026, 3:29:46 PM Z

Developing large-scale renewable energy infrastructure, whether wind farms, solar parks, grid connections, or battery storage, demands flawless alignment across a broad web of experts. Collaborate connects everyone around the same digital table, whether they sit within your core project team or represent external stakeholders, such as municipalities, grid operators, landscape architects, and environmental consultants. Keeping every professional aligned on spatial impact, technical constraints, and mitigation measures.

Too often, this professional alignment happens through static PDF exports, slow email exchanges, or disconnected GIS sessions. Decisions take weeks, feedback gets lost in translation, and design iterations stall.

To solve this, we are excited to introduce EnergyPlanner Collaborate; the new module within the EnergyPlanner Stakeholder Engagement Suite built specifically for real-time, professional co-creation in renewable energy design.

What is EnergyPlanner Collaborate?

Collaborate brings a "digital table" approach to renewable energy planning. It allows registered project professionals, such as developers, engineers, landscape designers, and municipal policy officers, to work together directly inside the live 2D map, 3D world, and photorealistic views of an EnergyPlanner project.

Instead of exchanging static files, experts can now review spatial designs together online, comment on specific 3D objects, tag colleagues, and align on crucial design choices in real time.

Key Professional Capabilities

Designed to streamline the internal and professional design workflow, Collaborate empowers teams to:

  • Pin Contextual Comments in 2D & 3D: Place spatial annotations directly onto 3D assets (like turbines, transmission towers, substations, or BESS units), 2D map layers, or specific viewpoints.

  • Tag Team Members & Stakeholders: Mention colleagues or external partners directly within the project environment. Tagged users receive instant email notifications bringing them directly to the exact visual context.

  • Centralize Spatial Q&A: Eliminate scattered feedback by keeping all visual questions, answers, and technical design decisions securely documented inside the project environment.

  • Accelerate Iteration cycles: Evaluate landscape integration, shadow flicker, or visual mitigation measures (such as visual tree buffers or fences) collaboratively with authorities and consultants before publishing plans.

A Key Piece of the EnergyPlanner Suite

While other modules in the EnergyPlanner Stakeholder Engagement Suite (like Present or the Virtual Consultation Room) are built to publish finalized plans and gather feedback from the public, Collaborate is where the professional co-creation happens beforehand.

It creates a seamless transition:

  • Design & Analyze: Identify potential sites and build precise 3D models across Wind, Solar, Line & Grid, BESS, or Hydrogen projects.

  • Collaborate: Refine, comment, and co-create in real time with professional partners and local authorities using the Collaborate module.

  • Present: Easily publish the finalized, aligned 3D models to inform decision-makers and the public.

Streamline Your Renewable Energy Workflow

EnergyPlanner Collaborate replaces slow back-and-forth communication with dynamic, real-time spatial alignment, ensuring your team moves from initial site selection to approved design faster and with total clarity.
