ABR and the Power of Collaboration

A successful example of an Stakeholder Engagement Platform is the project to improve accessibility to the city of Wageningen. The Province of Gelderland, in collaboration with the Municipality of Wageningen, aimed to enhance accessibility by modifying existing roads. The Area Participation Platform is part of the province’s communication strategy to engage local residents and other stakeholders at various stages of the project.

This platform allows them to share their ideas and needs regarding road design, nature, and landscape integration, among other topics. Respondents can precisely indicate locations on a map and specify the issues or wishes they want to highlight. Both the input and how it has been incorporated into the road design are presented in a clear, appealing, and realistic way. This makes it easy to follow how the design evolves over time and how stakeholders’ wishes and needs are taken into account.

Thanks to the Stakeholder Engagement Platform, all input has been collected in a structured and clear manner. Moreover, it is presented in an attractive, photorealistic format. The valuable contributions have continuously informed and improved the preliminary design, allowing it to better reflect the desires and expectations of the surrounding community.
